#1 9/15/17 I’m Excited!!!!
Today at the start of What’s the Story I sit writing my first blog post. I am the one who helps build off of new ideas. I sometimes am more laid back in the beginning of an idea process but I like to build off of ideas that have already been created. I like to think of ways to put things into action. I am very organized and like to keep things that way. I would like to work on having more of an open mind and being flexible. I am here because I want to learn about local issues in Vermont and about how I can help. I am here to find out more about myself and who I want to be. I have many many ideas that it is sometimes hard to learn how to weed out the ones that I really want to do something with. Sometimes I need to learn how to start and finish a particular project before moving onto another. I hope that I can learn the importance of group work and how ideas from other people can develop into something bigger. I wonder what ideas some people have created that I could add onto or develop further. I wonder what topics are going to end up interesting me most. To me there are multiple valuable lessons in life that I don’t know about and I want to help dig to find those through What’s the Story. This is my first year with What’s the Story and I am curious to see what I can learn and how the experience will help shape my future.
Hi Lindsay,
Welcome to WtS! I enjoyed reading your first blog post, especially your reflection on why you’re here and what you hope to gain from this experience. It’s great that you’re someone who likes to build on existing ideas – you’ll find that collaboration is invaluable to social action work. As you work to narrow down your focus to the topics that most interest you, it may be helpful to ask yourself: Where in your own life do you notice the greatest need for social awareness and action? What changes are you most excited about promoting through you work with WtS? I look forward to seeing how your ideas evolve throughout the year!

Hi!
Thank you so much for the comment! I appreciate any feedback I can get and I am excited to take the next steps!
Hello Lindsay! I’m Katy, and I’m glad to be reading your blog this year. Great opening post. I feel like I float on a sea of ideas too. The idea of what to pick up and do, which ones have the most impact and worth, and which ones to pursue is something I struggle with too. I would say think about what you are most curious about. What issues resonant with you the most? And ask questions and seek information from the group. Since you discussed being a collaborative learner, this mind help you find your way. Looking forward to hearing more, Lindsay!
