#8 Week 1/2 Reflection

Week 1 and 2 with my team has been an awesome beginning to our project. We have been working together well and everything has been going smoothly so far. Being able to work with the other three people in my group has already been a great experience. I have learned new things about myself as well as about them and we all have been getting to know each other through our discovery and research on Gender Equality. I am very lucky to have such courageous/determined people working with me to complete all of our goals in this project. The work ethic across the board has been great as we have gotten into our research. I know personally, I would like to be more disciplined in the amount of time that I put into our project, but the generation of ideas and communication between all of us has been better than I could have ever wished for. I am very happy/impressed with the work that we have done so far.

Our research so far has been focused on the history of Gender Equality in the U.S. as well as in VT. We also have been reaching out to a variety of people that can answer a few of our questions and give us an idea of their view of Gender Equality and their experience with it in our society. Individuals within our schools as well as organizations in VT (Such as Outright VT) have been subject to our questioning. We have gotten a lot of response that makes us all very excited about our forward efforts in this project.

As well as our research we have been posting on our Instagram regularly (@genderequalitynowVT) about promoting equal rights for all. The majority of the response to our posts has been positive, which is what we were hoping for, but we have experienced some negative responses as well that have allowed us to think, communicate, and learn together about the ideas that some people have based around our topic.

Thus far our project has been going very well and I am so happy with the progress we have made. We are planning to send out a survey in the near future to our schools to get responses from faculty/staff and students to further our understanding of their comprehension of what Gender Equality is. I cannot be more grateful for the chemistry that our team has and how passionate my teammates are about our project. Our shared efforts have made it very easy to accomplish the work that we have done so far.
