Farren: The Future is Female

Hello! My name is Farren Stainton, I am an eighth grader at The Sharon Academy, in Sharon Vermont. I like to run cross country, ski (both nordic and downhill), participate in track and field, and I enjoy school. I have a twin sister named Ella and two cats named Bob and Gene. I joined the WtS team a bit late, so this post is short.
I believe the future is female. This is because I believe in the future, women will have equal opportunity to access the same kinds of jobs for the same pay as men. Right now, women earn just 79 cents for every dollar a man makes, that’s 21 less cents. While this may not seem like a lot, but over a long time the money would add up. That’s unfair. I also believe the future is green because we all need to work together for a cleaner environment and to slow the impacts of climate change.
I’m a good teammate because I’m good at collaborating with others and sharing my ideas. In addition, I listen to other peoples’ opinions and make sure their voices get heard. I’m looking forward to getting to work with my fellow WtS 2019-20 teammates!
