Forming a Climate Group Over the October Retreat
I spent this past weekend with What’s the Story and it was a super enjoyable time. As soon as I arrived, I knew it was going to be an amazing experience. The property is in a beautiful location and it was such a welcoming view. Over the weekend, I had tons of fun running around outside, playing “Lava River” and air hockey, sitting by the campfire, and many other fun things. I also really enjoyed setting up my media kit, and I’m super excited to continue working with the cameras and other equipment. Getting sorted into group brought some challenges, given that there were 6 of us all interested in very similar things. After about an hour of discussion, it seemed that our interests within Climate Change began to start to take shape and set some groups in order. Eventually Sam, Mateo and I formed into a group and I’m excited to work with them. A lot of people outside our group also had super interesting project ideas, which will be really cool to see films come out of these ideas. Despite that challenging period of time, everything went well and I’m very excited for the next retreat on November 23rd. In the meantime, I’ll need to do some additional research about my group’s topic and perhaps began conversing with and doing pre-interviews with some potential subjects. In addition to that, I will also be practicing using the camera a lot and get some B roll footage of the leaves. You can never film too much B roll. Overall, a great experience and I can’t wait for the next retreat, which will also most likely be very fun.
