I feel like I have made a lot of personal progress since the beginning of the year and now for Self Direction in “What’s the Story.” For example, while we started to work on our projects and start to understand the lay of the land, I depended a lot on the mentors and didn’t really take in all of the information well and apply it to the work that we were completing. As time went on, I feel like I started to understand everything a little more each day. Towards the beginning of the year, we were starting to get prepared for the preinterviews, I never had done a phone call like that, so I didn’t really understand how it works, but as we started to do more preinterviews, Greta and I got a lot more comfortable with talking to people on the phone. I got a lot more independent with the work that we completed and started to understand the direction we were moving in. I also feel like Greta, Bob and I have been working really well together, we can have a good laugh then get right back to work and complete a task efficiently. We know each other’s weaknesses, and strengths and can provide it to the new learning. We have made a lot of progress when we are working together, and I am fortunate to have such a fun and great team. 

I think do Responsible and Involved citizenship, it is a little harder to make a lot of progress side the first learning target is directed around the audience and how we are engaging them. I think we definitely have an idea of the impact we want to make to the audience but we haven’t gotten that feedback yet. Even though that might be the case, I know that I am contributing to the group and helping with the team making decisions, we know what we need to do and how we need to do it. It might take us a long time but overall we can complete the job and understand it in an effective way. I also think I have made quite a bit of progress on the second target for responsible and involved citizenship, Empathic. Greta and I are already close, to begin with, we have known each other for a while, but I feel like I have been contributing to the group in a positive and effective way. I understand the strengths and weaknesses of each teammate and can provide and help our learning environment be more efficient. 

Lastly, for Clear & Effective Communication, I think I have grown the most in this area. I came into the organization not really understanding how to create a story and tell it in a productive way. As I have grown I have learned new techniques and applied it to my WTS work. For example, Greta and I are starting to create a script for our documentary. After watching and learning about others it was easier for us to understand and create the script/outline. I have been applying these goals and techniques to the work we have been doing to help us move closer to the finished product. For the second target, research is one that I have the most practice with. We do a lot of projects that have us do a lot of research, so I am used to finding liable resources and finding information about a given topic. I think that it helps the process when you have background knowledge but it also helps when the information is fresh. The last target is about Purpose, Audience, & Organization, I think that overall everyone has grown with this one. We have been really good with the organization part and are understanding the purpose part a lot more. I think we are figuring out the audience part as we make further progress. I think that we overall are doing really well with these targets and are continuing to make progress. 

We have three more interviews scheduled between now and April 4th that we are all set with (questions, communication, location, etc.) We will have to log all of those interviews and start to create a script. Greta and I have been doing most of this work together so it has been pretty efficient and helpful. I think that we are mostly looking good and are not behind any of the work so I feel like we are in a good place and have a clear plan on what we need to complete.
